Eilish McColgan, who competed at the London Games in 2012 and went on to reach the final of the 5,000m at Rio 2016, visited Clydeview Academy.
The special visit coincided with Scottish Women and Girls in Sport Week — a Sportscotland initiative to celebrate the hard work going into girls’ sport and the role models making it happen.
Jennifer Lyne, who is a fifth year pupil at the school, said:”It was a fantastic day and all of the girls thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
“It was to see all the girls from different year groups mixing together and was so much more relaxed without the boys involved.
“This will hopefully motivate and encourage everyone to get involved in more activities and clubs within school and out in the community.”
Eilish spoke to over 80 girls from S3 to S6 about the determination, effort, resilience and support it takes to make it not only as an athlete but in all walks of life.
Afterwards, the pupils enjoyed a question and answer session with the sports star.
Earlier in the day, the pupils enjoyed meta-fit sessions, trampolining, yoga and basketball.
