Seaton Junior School for Team Allerdale were crowned Cumbria School Games Sportshall winners in an athletics competition against schools from across the county.
The event was held at Penrith Leisure Centre with over 100 students representing their districts.
Great Britain Olympic steeplechaser, Eilish McColgan, attended the event as one of Sport England’s Sporting Champions.
I really enjoyed being a part of the Cumbria School Games event yesterday. It was such a brilliant opportunity for the kids to try so many different events within the sport I love – athletics.
Not only were there so many talented young athletes but it was brilliant to see everyone encouraging their fellow pupils. I started athletics at the same age as these young athletes so hopefully they’ll be inspired to do their best in whatever sport they may choose!”
The Cumbria School Games is designed to encourage all children across the county to get active and take part in competitive sport, no matter what their background or ability. It was wonderful to see all the children from across the county having a fantastic time. The games has become a key event in the Cumbria school sporting calendar with more schools getting involved each year.
Well done to everyone who took part, from the competitors to the volunteers and teachers, together we are motivating and inspiring children to be active.”
